Philanthropically funded landscape restoration is a holistic, standards-based approach to restoration and conservation that is funded by organizations and people like you to generate environmental, socioeconomic, and biodiversity benefits for the well-being of people and the planet.

Landscape restoration incorporates tree planting and a series of large-scale restoration interventions that address the interrelated pressures of climate change, ecosystem degradation, and poverty, as depicted in the Six Principles of Forest and Landscape Restoration. Through this holistic restoration approach, Eden: People+Planet supports the long-term sustainability of the landscapes, strengthening the resilience of local communities and ecosystems for decades to come.

When you give to Eden, it supports our teams in partnering with local communities, governments, and other key stakeholders to co-design and implement large-scale restoration programs

By working together, we co-developed restoration approaches using globally recognized, standards-based landscape restoration methods, including:

With each of these contextualized methods, we use avoided conversion, high-quality indigenous species, and prioritize biodiversity. Through collaboration and science-based restoration practices, we advocate for and with local communities to restore landscapes in ways that inspire hope, renew social connections, improve biodiversity, and generate economic benefits.

Our monitoring and evaluation (M&E) approach is iterative, based on the principle of continuous learning and improvement.

With nearly two decades of practical experience, we incorporate our knowledge and expertise, along with the most recent scientific findings, into the design of M+E strategies, practices, tools, and methods. This includes refining restoration methods over time and impact management planning. By tailoring the M+E approach according to project context, best practices, and globally recognized standards, we are able to ensure they are robust, defensible, and repeatable.

With each philanthropically funded landscape restoration project, we’re working closely with our partners to address the historical drivers of degradation and prioritizing community development. Together, we anticipate a multitude of long-lasting benefits for people and the planet, including:

With your support, we can achieve these benefits, creating a transformative global impact that fosters community well-being, mitigates climate change, plants trees, and conserves natural habitats. Join us, and together we will reverse environmental degradation, ensuring a thriving world for all.
